With Hypercard's "offset" function, you can only find the first occurrence of a string. But with NewOffset() you can find the 2nd, 8th, or 1000th occurrence of a string. Depending on the parameters passed to it, NewOffset() will search for overlapping or non-overlapping strings, and will return the character offset where the string begins. If you specify a "line" search, it will return the line number insteaNewOffset() is in a HC 2 stack and has only been tested in Hypercard 2. However, there is no reason that it should not work in previous versions of Hypercard.

Well simple, what if you were doing QuickTime movies (like I was) and your target only had 8 bit video cards. QuickTime does not remap the Color LookUp Table (CLUT) it, instead, dithers it's colors and there is a noticable degradation in color quality on some video, which as a rule is 16 bit color. Palette can extract the best 256 colors and build a color palette which is stored in the resource fork of the stack. It can then change the systems color palette so that when the picture is displayed it looks best it can on an 8 bit monitor.

You can set the creator type of the text files created, and tell the project whether to include the names of all objects and menus in the report, or just those with scripts. Script formatting is retained. The final report includes the number of lines, words, and characters per script, plus the grand totals of each. A total of all object types is included at the end of the report.
